Day Trip to the Achensee Lake
Enjoy the fantastic steam driven rack railway to the largest lake in Tyrol:
For a fantastic day out we highly recommend a trip to the beautiful Achensee lake with the oldest steam driven rack railway called the Achenseebahn. The track is approximately 7 km in length, and takes you on a beautiful ride through the stunning alpine scenery for 45 minutes. The train starts in Jenbach and takes you directly to the lovely lake, stopping at the Seespitz marina.
A trip with the Achensee steamboat:
The stunning setting and beautiful views of the alpine landscape surrounding the Achensee lake are best enjoyed from the Achensee steamboat.
Glide along the clear emerald-green waters of the Achensee lake and marvel at the majestic mountain landscape. The Rofan and Karwendel mountain ranges surround the lake and create an impressive alpine setting. The boat trip on Tyrol's largest and most beautiful lake at an elevation of 940 metres above sea-level will surely be a memorable experience.
The rock oil museum in Pertisau:
In Pertisau you can learn all about the history and extraction of rock oil in the Vitalberg-Museum. This naturally sourced product was considered to be the liquid gold of the Achensee.
